History of
South Devons
South Devon Cattle originated from England along with
Herefords and Devons, and like Hereford Cattle and
Devons, they were named after the region that the cattle
originated. South Devon cattle are not related to
Devons, though produce a very good quality animal when
crossed.
South Devon cattle are very placid animals and even
paddock bred animals react calmly when moving between
paddocks or when being penned. Bulls that are being
shown are usually placid when led.

Merilba South Devon Cattle provide the breeders of
cattle a unique opportunity to increase the size of
their existing breeds. By crossing their existing cattle
with South Devon Cattle breeders can find that they may
have an increase in muscle ratio and in their cows an
increase of milk yield.
South Devon cattle produce a meat that marbles instead
of having a thick layer of fat. This results in a
luscious steak, that is not only nutricious, but
delicious as well. |
